Editorial Cartoon

This cartoon is making fun of the way that cell phones are so essential in nowadays, that people actually prefers to be talking on the cell phone instead of talking to people around them. I think that is something that the use of cell phones is getting stronger year by year. Even kids have cell phones now, and some people are losing the ability to talk face to face and it can get worse with the advanced technology world that we live in. The invention of more developed cell phones is a threat to personal communication between people. Even in business now, people don't meet personally but they have long distance conferences using cell phones that can be used with videos too. But it is just the world we are living in and everyone is used to it, the use of cell phones will just continue to grow.

I agree with your explanation of the cartoon. I think it's crazy how many people these days have cell phones. Not only do adults have them, but I've seen children as young as 7 that have them too. What is a 7 year old going to do with a cell phone?!? Who can they possibly call? I just think that it's becoming a bit ridiculous.
On the other hand, think of how much we benefit from them. If there is an emergency, help is only a phone call away, instead of a block to the pay-phone, assuming you have a quarter. Also, think about the times when you want to contact all of your friends in a short amount of time to see what they are all doing on the weekend so you can make plans. Without cell phones, you would have to see everyone personally, or wait until the next time you saw them.
